FAQ
Cloud API Request Builder: questions and answers
What do I need to send my first Cloud API message?
A WhatsApp Business Account with a registered phone number, that number's phone number ID, and an access token — ideally a permanent system-user token rather than the 24-hour temporary one. In test mode the recipient must be on your allowed list; in production you can message anyone who has opted in.
When do I have to use a template?
To start a conversation, or to message someone more than 24 hours after their last message to you. Inside that 24-hour customer-service window you can send free-form text, media, location and interactive messages. Sending free-form outside it returns error 131047.
Why does the request fail with a 132001 error?
The template name or language code does not match an approved template on that WhatsApp Business Account. Names are lowercase with underscores and the language must be the exact code the template was approved in — en and en_US are different templates.
Is my access token safe in this tool?
The tool never asks for it. Every generated snippet reads the token from a WHATSAPP_TOKEN environment variable, so you can paste the code into a terminal or project without the token ever touching a web page.
Which Graph API version should I use?
Use the latest version you have tested against — the builder defaults to v26.0, the version used across InfiQ's documentation. The version is only the path segment after graph.facebook.com, and Meta keeps each version available for at least two years after release, so pin it in configuration and upgrade deliberately rather than per request.
