Current timestamp in code
JavaScript Math.floor(Date.now() / 1000) Python int(time.time()) PHP time() Go time.Now().Unix() Java Instant.now().getEpochSecond() PostgreSQL extract(epoch from now())::bigint MySQL UNIX_TIMESTAMP() Shell date +%s
All of these return whole seconds since 1 January 1970 UTC — the same instant everywhere. Only the display depends on a time zone.

How to use the Unix Timestamp Converter
Step 1: Paste a value
An epoch number from a webhook, log or database, or an ISO date. The unit is detected from its length.
Step 2: Read every format
IST first, then Unix seconds and milliseconds, ISO 8601 in IST and UTC, the HTTP date and any time zone you pick.
Step 3: Go the other way
Pick a date, time and zone to get the timestamp — or paste many lines and download the conversions as CSV.
FAQ
Unix Timestamp Converter: questions and answers
Is a Unix timestamp in seconds or milliseconds?
Both are common. Unix tools, PHP, Python's time.time() and WhatsApp webhook timestamps use seconds (10 digits today); JavaScript's Date.now() and many databases use milliseconds (13 digits). This converter detects the unit from the number of digits, and you can force it if a value is ambiguous.
How do I convert a timestamp to IST?
A Unix timestamp is the same instant everywhere — only the display changes. IST is UTC+05:30 all year (India has no daylight saving), so add five and a half hours to the UTC time. The converter does this for you and also shows the ISO 8601 form with the +05:30 offset, which is the safest way to store or send a local time.
What timestamp does a WhatsApp webhook send?
The timestamp field on messages and statuses is a string of Unix seconds, for example "1793500000". Convert it with the field as-is, and remember a status timestamp is when Meta recorded the event, which can lag the customer's device time slightly.
What happens in 2038?
Systems that store seconds in a signed 32-bit integer overflow on 19 January 2038 at 03:14:07 UTC. Modern languages and databases use 64-bit integers, which last for billions of years — but it is worth checking old embedded devices and legacy database columns.
How do I get the current Unix timestamp?
In JavaScript use Math.floor(Date.now() / 1000) for seconds (Date.now() alone is milliseconds); in Python, int(time.time()); in a shell, date +%s; in PostgreSQL, extract(epoch from now()); in MySQL, UNIX_TIMESTAMP(). Paste any of these results into the converter to check it against IST.
