What Media Message means
A media message is any WhatsApp message whose payload is a file — an image, video, document (such as a PDF invoice), audio clip or sticker — rather than plain text. Media can appear in a template header or in free-form session messages.
Media messages are common for sending receipts, product photos, tickets, catalogues and how-to videos. Each media type has size and format limits set by WhatsApp, and files are usually uploaded to obtain a media ID before being sent, or referenced by a hosted URL.
