Finding the version of Android that’s running on your mobile phone is pretty easy. Here’s how you can quickly find the Android version on your phone:
--> Press the Home button. You’ll be now in the home screen. Now, hit Menu. The following options will appear:
--> Tap Settings
--> Tap About Phone
--> Hit Software Information
--> The phone should now display the firmware version of Android that’s running on your mobile device.

The method described above works on HTC phones. In other phones like Motorola’s Droid, I presume you will have an option called ‘Firmware Version’ instead of ‘Software Information’
